Vesper Shen was a girl born and raised in Busan, South Korea. Her mother and father raised her as well as they could have, but not to much avail; as they were hardly available, with work keeping them away. Thus, Ves grew up primarily under the care of her household’s nanny.Vesper’s life was a closeted one — not necessarily that she was to blame for it. The young girl never got to leave home too often under her parents’ orders. She would spend hours on the terrace, indulging in a new activity she’s learned about from a book or online. She would only leave the house whenever she had to, or when her parents came once in a blue moon and took her out to a family dinner.Vesper never had the chance to make friends, and her softer tone shows that. Her speech patterns reflect that of the characters in her books.Years would pass, and Vesper would find herself resourceful and well-versed in the most arbitrary things. But with this, she harbored a growing desire to leave her home and discover new things; meet new people; explore the world she’s scarce ever gotten to explore.In two ways alone, she was a prodigy — she held a gift for musical composition and mathematics. Ves came to learn of this through her private tutor, who insisted she show her talents to the world. Ves wanted nothing more than to accept this offer. The next time she faced her parents, she asked if she could participate in a mathematics competition out in Seoul. Albeit hesitantly, they granted her the permission.For the first time in her life, Vesper would set foot outside of her home; outside of the city she’s barely gotten to know.
